The Right Cut

Buying back to school supplies can be daunting. There are so many options to choose from. When your child is struggling with fine motor skills, it is important to help them find the right tools to succeed. One specific tool would be the right set of scissors. Fiskars posted an article about how to find the right scissors for your child and it outlines all the different shapes and sizes.

If your child has weak or uncoordinated with their hands, it is best to start with the training scissors which have an assist built in to help the child open the tips of the scissors. It is also important to remember that there are both right and left handed scissors. These small adaptations can help your child feel more independent and successful at school.
